My journey to self-actualize began years ago with one question

What makes me tick?

During that time, I still battled with rage and wanted to understand it

Going against all logic, I put myself in situations that inflamed me

I theorized that I needed to be in it to understand it

It took levels of patience and self-control I hadn't attained yet

But I strived for it because my desire to grow outweighed my desire to be the same

If you want to improve your life, you must go through this process too

As Mark Manson once said, you must answer what you're willing to struggle for

Below is a fantastic quote by Carl Jung that describes what I'm referring to

For Jung, architecture was a tool to represent the psyche | Psyche Ideas
No tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell — Carl Jung

This quote is chilling

It implies that you're required you to go through hell before reaching your highest goals

The higher your goals are — the more hell you must go through

Knowing this is crippling for some

You will make choices that lead to the greatest amount of pleasure, gratification, and ease

This means seeking what's easy now to deal with the hard later

For others, knowing this is empowering

You will make choices that lead to the greatest amount of ambition, growth, and creation

This means seeking what's hard now to deal with the easy later

What you choose is dependent on what life you want to live

For thousands of years, people answered this existential question with different answers

Some stick more than others

But there is no right or wrong answer

It's your choice
